Gaara’s frown deepened. He could tell Minato was upset about something or other. His bad mood must be a magnet for people who weren’t happy as well. “I said, you appear to be looking for something. Have you lost something important?” he asked, a bit of irritation in his voice.
He didn’t mean to have a short fuse today, but when bottling up all his sadness he wound up getting a bit angry. “Or is there something on your mind. It must be important for you not to notice me speaking to you. You’re lucky there wasn’t an enemy nearby.”
“Right, right,” he said with a nod, chuckling nervously. “Actually… I’m looking for someone to go on a mission with me. I’ve got an assassination mission, for ten high ranking missing-nin for Kiri,” he explained calmly. Minato was never fond of these sort of things. He preferred settling it with a conversation, or at the most, knock them unconscious. He never enjoyed the fact of lives being taken. It just caused more hate.
“Is something bothering you?” he asked, hearing the bit of irritation in the boy’s voice. Gaara always had such a calm, flat tone, that it was easy to spot a different emotion.
Despite it being an exceedingly nice day outside, Gaara was still in a dark mood. He was taking his break up incredibly hard. It was the first time he’d ever told someone other than his siblings that he loved him, opened himself up to the possibility of being hurt. “A wound of a heart is different from a flesh wound. Unlike a flesh wound, there are no ointments to heal it, and there are times when they never heal,” Gaara mumbled to himself, lost in his thoughts as his sand swirled around him in the middle of a training field.
Minato was lost in his thoughts, wondering what he’d do. He always avoided this sort of thing, but this was inevitable. He was hardly even looking for anyone anymore, just wandering around the village aimlessly. Finding himself almost running into someone, he realized he was near the entrance of the village. He didn’t even hear what Gaara had said.
Glancing down at the young Kazekage, he put on a smile, though it was sort of a sad smile. “Hello, Gaara-sama. I apologize, I didn’t catch what you said… Could you repeat that, please?” he asked politely, opening his eyes to look at the boy.
Minato sighed as he looked at the clock. It was noon, and he had nothing to do. He had finished off his books quickly, like he usually did, and didn’t feel like going and buying another as of right now. That’s when the idea popped into his head. I can go on a mission! He grinned to himself at his thought, and got up from his couch to head down to the Hokage’s mansion.

Ah, I see. I am fine, what about you? By the way, who is Uchiha Itachi’s mother?
